ARTIFICIAL INTELLINGENCEArtemis is a geospatial software tool that allows users -such as victims of human trafficking, citizen scientists, social justice activists- to locate, discover and label's the 'hot spots of human trafficking" in near-real-time satellite images with the help of deep learning machine vision techniques. Through an interface for visual query-by-example, users can find a spot on a satellite image that indicates a human trafficking crime (E.g. logging roads, destroyed homes, animal herds etc.), click on it, and in a matter of seconds Artemis will find similar spots in other locations. If hotspots are discovered, local authorities are automatically alerted. Additionally, users also have the option to upload, through the Artemis mobile app, their own geo-referenced observations (photo and audio recording), to help authorities validate hotspots.
